God is good- all the time! At Saint James, we affirm God's goodness because of our experience of God. God has made us who we are and has given us all that we have. God did not stop there; God became one of us and gave his life for us in Jesus. Giving is not just something God does; giving is a part of who God is. Giving is also part of who we are. We are made in God's image. We respond to God's giving by giving of ourselves. We give all that we are and have in service to God. At Saint James, we believe that our lives are meant to be given as an offering to the One who made us all. We make a time of offering part of all our worship gatherings. However, we make certain that it is clear that our guests are not expected to give. Giving is part of an ongoing response to God in our lives and it is more than monetary gifts we place in a plate or basket during worship. It can be the gifts we give to ALIVE shelter (toiletries, cleaning products, and other necessities) or the peanut butter we give for the sandwich-making ministry. More than that, it is the time and use of our talents that we give in service to God and others in our everyday lives. We do not believe in giving to meet a budget or because we feel obligated to give. We give because it is part of who we are. We do not give because God (or the church) needs money or time or talent; we give because we need to give. Many people give financially and in other ways at Saint James. Over time, people have come to request that we make available a means of giving financially through the website. The PayPal link below will allow just that: giving to Saint James online. Giving via PayPal is a secure means of making your donation online. |
