Peter plays an important role in the crucifixion: he is the denier. It is one of those times when he couldn't seem live up to his nickname (Peter means "Rock"). Simon is his given name. He is absolutely certain that he will stand by Jesus until death. Given a chance to claim his connection to Jesus three times on eve of the crucifixion, Simon denies knowing Jesus; he even "curses" in the last denial. The realization of what he had done nearly broke Simon; the key word here is "nearly." So, what can we learn about being followers from Simon, the denier? Join us Sunday at 11AM Eastern as we explore where we might see ourselves in Simon Peter.
